Where is the glow plug controller located on 7.3 f250. Your glow plug relay is located on the top of the engine on the right side toward the front. Some models there are 2 solenoids. A large one toward the front and a smaller one right behind it. The glow plug relay is the smaller one toward the rear. The larger front one is the intkae heater
Check the controller ground wire and the battery to engine grounds. Any resistance in either place will cause the glow plug time values to change. Also inspect the engine harness to chassis harness connector. Pay close attention to the connector on the side with two large AWG wires, they are the glow plug power wires.
1999 - 2003 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel - glow plug fuse keeps blowing - It has just turned cold here in kansas city. My 97 PSD keeps burning up fuses when the glow plugs come on. The last 2 fuses didn't last 2 seconds-they burned up as soon as I turned over the key. The second one was a 40-amp (in a 30-amp circuit)!
The glow plugs have a combination relay amd control module mounted on the passenger side valve cover near the front of the engine. It has 2 plugins one black and one green. This is more than likely your problem. Also there are fuzes and relay in the engine compartment fuzebox if I remember correctly. HarrisonB.
The WTS light is not tied to the glow plugs. If the WTS light is going on and off with the cycling, that's just further indication that it's a main power issue. 1995 FORD F350 7.3 POWERSTROKE ABOVE 32 DEGREES GLOW PLUG LIGHT COMES ON AND THEY WORK CAN SEE VOLTAGE GAUGE CLICKING BACK AND FORTH.

On my 7.3 I tapped off of the glow plug relay for a source to close a constant duty solenoid to charge the battery only when the key is on.
